France issues decree to close its oldest nuclear plant by April 2020
France's oldest nuclear power reactor will stop electricity production by April 2020, once a new generation EPR reactor under construction in Flamanville is operational, according to a decree issued in the country's official gazette on April 9.

An explosion occurred at French utility EDF's Flamanville nuclear plant on Feb. 9 in which there may have been some injuries but from which there was no nuclear risk, French newspaper Ouest France reported on its web site, citing local police.

Explosion reported at Nuclear Power Plant in France! (UPDATE)
An explosion, at the Flamanville nuclear power plant was reported at 10am, local time.
The explosion occured in the engine room and there is no risk of a radioactive release.
Several people may have been injured, medical teams have headed to the place of the blast.
