Pakistan’s south braces for deluge from swollen northern rivers
Pakistan's flooded southern Sindh province braced Sunday for a fresh deluge from swollen rivers in the north as the death toll from this year's monsoon topped 1,000.
The mighty Indus River that courses through Pakistan's second-most populous region is fed by dozens of mountain tributaries to the north, but many have burst their banks following record rains and glacier melt.

South China floods force tens of thousands to evacuate
Major flooding has forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people in southern China, with more rain expected.
The manufacturing hub of Guangdong suspended classes, office work and public transport amid rising waters and the threat of landslides.
In the neighboring province of Jiangxi, almost 500,000 people have seen damage to their homes and their lives uprooted.

Nine people have been killed since the storm began last Thursday, and rescue teams are searching for four more people whose disappearance was reported today, Reuters reported.

Flood-hit Black Sea province tries to recover
Authorities participating in a massive cleanup operation in the flood-hit Black Sea province of Artvin have said a man is missing, some 39 buildings have been torn down and around 1,500 houses have been damaged across the province.
The city was devastated by floods triggered by heavy precipitation on July 22, when some 170 kilograms of rain poured down per square meter.

Turkey extends condolences to China over deadly floods
Turkey on July 21 extended condolences to Beijing over deadly flooding in central China.
"We are deeply saddened that the floods in the Henan province of the People's Republic of China (PRC) have claimed more than 25 lives and resulted in the evacuation of many people from the area," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
