The alarming course of destruction wrought to the unique landscape and character of the Cycladic islands in the Aegean is highlighted by the proposal of the Hellenic Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage (ELLET) to the Europa Nostra federation regarding endangered monuments and cultural heritage sites.

There has been an unprecedented explosion in construction on the Cyclades in the Aegean over the last five years, according to data from the National Statistical Service on new constructions from 2018 to 2022 on the region's 23 inhabited islands. 

Folegandros was also included in the top 20 list

Greek health authorities will carry out antibody tests on 16 islands next week, the head of the National Public Health Organization (EODY) Panagiotis Arkoumaneas, told radio station Praktoreio FM on Tuesday.

Four dinghies took four teams of doctors and nurses to Milos, Kimolos, Folegandros and Sikonos, covering more than 200 nautical miles in 31 hours, and collected about 200 samples as part of an initiative to conduct coronavirus tests and to ascertain the health infrasture needs of remote islands.

The National Organization for Public Health (EODY) has teamed up with a nongovernment organization dedicated to improving living conditions on Greece's remote islands to bring coronavirus testing to communities that are cut off from medical facilities.
