Bulgarian Archaeologists Discover 11th Century Rakia Distillation Vessel

Bulgarian archaeologists recently discovered an 11th century fragment of a distillation vessel used for the production of the country's traditional fruit brandy, which is known as rakia.

The fragment was uncovered during the excavation works, which are being conducted by the National Historical Museum (NIM) at the medieval Lyutitsa fortress.

French farmers vow to step up protests over prices

French farmers protesting over falling food prices threatened to step up blockades of cities, roads and tourist sites on July 22, as the government prepared to unveil emergency aid for them.

Farmers have dumped manure in cities, blocked access roads and motorways and hindered tourists from reaching Mont St-Michel in northern France, one of France's most visited sites.

Bulgarian Producers of Fruit, Vegetables Seek to Boost Cooperation with Hypermarkets

Bulgarian fruit and vegetable producers are increasingly interested in expanding cooperation with hypermarkets after the adoption of amendments to the Competition Protection Act, according to Slavi Trifonov, Chair of the National Union of Gardeners.

Only 15% of the goods sold at hypermarkets in Bulgaria are domestically produced, according to the Bulgarian National Radio.

EU announces Cypriot 'understanding' over halloumi

In the protracted negotiations to bring together the Turkish and Greek communities of Cyprus, few would imagine that a rubbery cheese would make its mark.

Polish AmRest Becomes Official Owner of Starbucks Coffee Shops in Bulgaria

Polish company AmRest has officially acquired the sites of the Starbucks coffee chain in Bulgaria.

The deal was finalized a few days ago, according to Capital Daily.

Bulgaria's Business Register cites AmRest Coffee as the owner of the business.

The information about the forthcoming deal was released in March.
