Turkey seeks free movement of people, goods in Turkish Cyprus in post-agreement era

Turkey will seek the right of free movement for Turkish people and Turkish goods in Turkish Cyprus after a prospective reunification deal that would result in the entire island joining the European Union amid ongoing talks between Turkish and Greek Cypriots in Geneva. 

'Without Cyprus, Turkey would drown'

The Cyprus talks are expected to restart next week in Geneva. The Greek Cyprus administration is like a reluctant seller. 

It is a full member of the European Union, representing the entire island as if northern Cyprus has not existed for 42 years and as if the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has not existed for 33 years.

Common actions for Greece & Cyprus towards the Geneva Meeting

The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the President of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis met today in Athens in order to compare notes regarding the ongoing negotiations between the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish-Cypriot community on the Cyprus dispute.

 

The two leaders decided that they would undertake some actions on an European and an international level.

 

French FM visits Turkish Cyprus as peace negotiations continue

French Foreign Minister Jena-Marc Ayrault visited Turkish Cyprus on Oct. 25, holding talks with Turkish Cypriot President Mustafa Akıncı, as peace negotiations to end the more than 40-year-old conflict continue. 

Ayrault and Akıncı held a closed-door meeting in Nicosia late on Oct. 25, the Turkish Cypriot Presidency said on its website.

'No be annem'

Proponents of the Annan Plan were using a very appealing slogan during the propaganda period for the April 24, 2004 referendum: "Yes be annem" (Say yes my mom).  It was the slogan of strong support for the Annan Plan mixed with the matriarchal spirit of the Turkish Cypriot culture.
