Turkey on July 27 dismissed remarks made by EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell on the partial reopening of the Varosha region in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as being worthless for Turkey.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry on July 23 rejected the U.N. Security Council's statement as well as "unfounded claims" of several countries on reopening of Maras in Turkish Cyprus.

Ankara will continue its efforts to secure international recognition for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Turkey's president said on July 21.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry said on July 20 that a statement by the European Union's foreign policy chief on the Turkish president's recent visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is fresh proof of the bloc's disconnect from the truth on the Cyprus issue.

In efforts to solve the Cyprus dispute, the proper place for the Greek Cypriot administration to address itself is the neighboring Turkish Cypriot state, not Turkey, said the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) presidency on July 17. 

Official negotiations on the Cyprus issue can start only after both sides on the island are recognized as equals, the Turkish Cypriot president said on June 24. 

The Turkish vice president on June 23 said Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) should work toward building a self-sufficient TRNC.

Fuat Oktay spoke at a joint press conference with TRNC Prime Minister Ersan Saner following their meeting at the presidential complex in capital Ankara.

Turkey sent 50,000 additional doses of a coronavirus vaccine to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on June 21. 

A Health Ministry plane carrying the doses landed at Ercan International Airport in Lefkosa, where officials from the TRNC's Health Ministry received the shipment.

With the latest delivery, Turkey has provided the TRNC with 290,000 vaccine doses to date.

The president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) urged the international community on June 20 to take action to change the status quo in Cyprus to guarantee the rights of the island's Turkish Cypriots.
