Turkey to research, drill for oil, gas in Cyprus' EEZ
Turkey, or rather the breakaway "Turkish Republic of North Cyprus" (TRNC) recognized only by Turkey, has informed the United Nations it will begin drilling for oil and natural gas within Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

Greek Cypriots protest 1974 invasion
A group of Greek-Cypriot university students went on a two-day hunger strike on Tuesday outside the Turkish Consulate in Thessaloniki on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the unilateral proclamation of the Turkish-Cypriot state in the occupied north of Cyprus on Thursday.
A march to the Turkish Consulate has also been planned for Thursday.

Akinci reportedly threatened to resign over Turkish proposal for Cyprus
Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci reportedly threatened to resign rather than table any proposal for a solution to the Cyprus issue other than a federal system, Turkish Cypriot media reported on Wednesday.
According to daily Kibris Postasi, cited by Cyprus Mail Online, Akinci made the statement during the visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu to the north last April.
