Greek, Turkish officials discuss easing tensions

Greek and Turkish officials meeting in Istanbul on Monday expressed a joint interest in scaling down tensions in the Aegean, sources said following the cancellation of a scheduled meeting between Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan, apparently because the latter was feeling unwell.

Erdoğan in US urges for more investments in Turkey

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan encouraged approximately 40 international investors he met during his visit to the U.S. on May 15 and 16 to intensify investments in Turkey, a written statement from the meeting's coordinator, the Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey (ISPAT), said on May 17.      

Leaders meet on sidelines of forum in China

In a bid to defuse tensions that have been rising since last September, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. Greek officials said it was a step in the right direction and that Tsipras focused on ways to improve bilateral ties.

Turkey, EU step up diplomacy after nosedive in relations

Turkey's EU Minister Ömer Çelik will travel to Brussels and Strasbourg on May 9, where he is expected to hold meetings with the bloc's foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini, European Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans, and Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland, after a period of high tension between the EU and Ankara.

EU imposes no preconditions before Turkey-EU meet in Brussels

The European Union has not imposed any preconditions on Ankara, such as the lifting of the state of emergency, before a prospective meeting between top Turkish and European officials later in May, Turkish diplomatic sources have said, emphasizing Ankara's interest in keeping channels of dialogue open with Brussels.
