Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will head to Italy and the U.K. to attend the G20 Leaders and COP26 climate summits, Turkey's Communications Directorate said ob Oct. 28.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has given up his announced intention to declare the ambassadors of 10 Western countries, including the United States and Germany, persona non grata.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in Turkey on Oct. 16 for talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan before leaving office after 16 years in power.

Merkel on arrived at the Huber Mansion in Istanbul to meet with Erdoğan.

Merkel and Erdoğan boarded a golf cart and visited the beach area of the mansion.

The originator of the "Blue Motherland" theory, which claims for Turkey huge swathes of Greek maritime zones in the Aegean and the Mediterranean and their hydrocarbons deposits, has lambasted the recent Greece-France mutual defence pact.

Turkey on Sept. 30 vowed to contribute to the fight against climate change.

This came in a meeting of the country's National Security Council chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the capital Ankara. The meeting lasted for about three and half hours.

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Faruk Kaymakcı on Sept. 29 praised Germany's contribution to the advancement of relations between Turkey and the European Union. 

Addressing a webinar on Turkish-German relations and prospects for the post-Merkel era, Kaymakcı drew attention to the special ties between the two countries.

The Turkish president on Aug. 22 talked with the EU Council president over the phone, saying Turkey cannot handle an additional migration wave.
