Veria: Mother accused of killing baby remanded in custody

A  37-year-old mother accused of beating her 6-month-old baby to death has been remanded in custody after testifying before an investigating magistrate in Veria. 

The woman, who has been charged with committing intentional homicide in a calm state of mind, appeared before the investigating magistrate and a prosecutor in the northern city.

Body found in canal near Larissa

Police are probing the cause of death of a woman whose body was found in an irrigation canal in the region of Platykambos near Larissa in central Greece on Monday.
According to comments by coroner Roubini Leontari to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, clothes found at the scene suggested that the deceased was probably an elderly woman.

Bosnia Authorities Argue Over Risk of COVID-19 Autopsies

Bosnia's Serb-majority entity, Republika Srpska, RS, will continue to perform autopsies of people who have died from the coronavirus, its health minister said on Thursday.

This comes after the state association of forensic pathologists said earlier that such autopsies should be stopped in the current circumstances.

Forensic doctors advisory body recommends avoiding autopsies in coronavirus cases

Autopsies in cases where death was caused by the new coronavirus should be avoided, the Hellenic Society of Forensic Medicine (HSFM) recommended on Thursday following the first death recorded in Greece of the pandemic.

In cases of confirmed infection, HSFM said, the death certificate should be issued without an autopsy, while cases of suspected infection should be tested after death.
