Thousands Protest in Paris Against the Labor Reform of Macron

Thousands of people protested in Paris against the reform of the Labor Code, signed by President Emmanuel Macron, the world agencies say.

Demonstrators gathered at the call of the leader of the extreme left, Jean-Luc Melanchon, Darik reports. Melanchon promised a "social cyclone" to the opposition against the President's reform.

Loup Bureau, French journalist freed from Turkey, arrives home

French reporter Loup Bureau, who had been held on "terror" charges in Turkey in a case that sparked tensions between Ankara and France, arrived in Paris on Sept. 17 after being freed.

Bureau, 27, arrived onboard an Air France jet at Charles de Gaulle Airport on a flight from Istanbul, the campaign group Reporters without Borders (RSF) said in a tweet.

French Protests Target Macron Labour Reforms

In the first big test of Emmanuel Macron's presidency, protests have begun in cities across France against changes to the country's labour laws, reported BBC. 

Some 4,000 strikes have been called too, but two of the biggest unions have distanced themselves from the action.

Marches were due in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Nantes and the other main cities.
