Low-fare carrier Wizz Air and Fraport Greece, which manages Thessaloniki's airport, have agreed the Hungarian airline will begin three new flights per week between Thessaloniki and Vienna, while Qatar Airways will soon launch a service linking Makedonia Airport with Doha.

BELGRADE - France's VINCI Airports, which has been awarded a 25-year concession to run Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport, expects the concession agreement to be signed in Q1 2018.

An IT failure at Frankfurt airport could disrupt flights and result in cancellations on Tuesday, owner and operator Fraport said on its website, quoted by Reuters. 

Frankfurt Airport, the largest in Germany, canceled 170 flights due to snow, said the Associated Press.

Over the next nine years, another 256 million leva will be invested in the airports in Burgas and Varna. During the first ten years the concession company has invested BGN 350 million, as a result of which the two airports on the coast have new terminals, renewed infrastructure, computer and communication systems.

Combined passenger numbers at the Bulgarian coastal airports of Varna and Burgas rose 7.6% year-on-year in the January-November period, reaching 4.87 million, Germany's Fraport Group, which operates the airports, said on Tuesday.

When in September the Irish airline Ryanair announced the great news that it opened its permanent base in Burgas as the routes are expected to serve over 250,000 customers annually, the news came out for their new destination.

It is about Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania and its former capital.

The extension of the tourist season through the attraction of tourists and new markets, such as Asian, is the biggest target for the development of Thessaloniki airport, which has the features of a metropolitan airport.

Currently, major foreign brands in the hospitality industry in Athens operate 18 hotels with a total of 3,087 rooms.
