Against the backdrop of dog attack incidents, experts have raised concerns over the growing stray animal population in Türkiye, suggesting that it could equal the country's human population by 2030.

In response to the escalating issue of stray dog attacks, Presidential Local Governance Policies Board vice chairman, Şükrü Karatepe, emphasized that the primary measure to address the problem is reducing births rather than euthanizing animals. This announcement comes amid a growing concern over the country's rising number of stray dogs.

The recent incident in the capital Ankara, in which a 10-year-old child was seriously injured after being attacked by stray dogs, has once again brought the issue of stray animals to the forefront of public discourse.

Stray dogs attacked and seriously wounded a 9-year-old child in the town of Dupnitsa, Southwestern Bulgaria.. The girl has multiple wounds all over her body.

Given that stray cats and dogs are finding it increasingly difficult to find food owing to the restriction on people's movements, the Municipality of Thessaloniki in northern Greece has launched a campaign with the help of volunteers to ensure that most of them are fed daily. 

The endeavor is sponsored by two companies that have provided food for dogs and cats.
