Weather In Bulgaria: Sofia and Beyond in the Frigid Embrace of January 22

As the winter tightens its grip, Western Bulgaria is waking up to a bone-chilling morning on January 22nd. Temperatures are set to dance between minus 8C and minus 3C, dipping even lower in the picturesque valleys. The capital, Sofia, won't be spared either, with the thermometer hovering around a frosty minus 7C.

RHMZ issued as many as three warnings: It's coming...

Judging by the announcements of the RHMZ, snow will arrive at the beginning of April, and the formation of a snow cover is expected, not only in the mountainous regions.
The first warning refers to the expected higher amount of precipitation in the second part of the day in the southern and eastern regions, from 20 to 40 mm in 12 hours, sometimes even more.

Aid confirmed for farmers stricken by spring frost

Ljubljana – The National Assembly unanimously endorsed on Wednesday a law on measures to help farmers affected by the spring frost. It provides the basis for a final damage assessment and for emergency measures. The majority of deputy groups were in favour of making the aid available as soon as possible.

April frost damage could reach EUR 50m, minister says

Trebnje/Ajdovščina – The sub-zero temperatures hitting last week could result in EUR 40-50 million in damage caused to fruit and wine growers, Agriculture Minister Jože Podgoršek said on Monday as he continued visiting the frost-stricken areas. This is on a par with 2016 and 2017, when damage reached some EUR 45 million. He announced state aid measures.

Fruit growers pleading for aid as crop decimated by frost

Ljubljana – The cold snap that hit Slovenia this week caused damage to all types of fruit orchards nation-wide, as well causing injury to vineyards, olive groves and legumes, initial estimates by the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry (KGZS) show. In some areas all fruit crop is gone.

Serbia facing temperature shock; From -1 to +15 in just a few days

According to the announcements of the Republic Hydro-meteorological Institute (RHMZ), temperatures below zero will remain for at least another two to three days.
"For the weekend and the beginning of next week, very cold weather with moderate and strong morning frosts and daily temperature below 0 degrees. From Tuesday, the temperature will rise," it is stated on the RHMZ website.

Today before noon will remain cloudy with snow, more significant in the mountainous regions. After noon from the North the snow will stop and clear sky is expected, late in the Rila-Rhodopes region. Such is the forecast of the time of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), announced the FOCUS News Agency
