ATHEX: Bank stocks pay no mind to grim reports

After four sessions in the red, bank stocks staged a notable recovery on Wednesday, shaking off negative reports on the local credit sector by Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Standard & Poor's. The prospect of a deal with the country's creditors edged closer and fueled a late surge in prices that offset earlier losses.

ATHEX: Ongoing talks vex investors

The benchmark at Athinon Avenue continued to reflect the nervousness of a market held hostage to the protracted negotiations between representatives of the Greek government and the country's creditors in Brussels ahead of Friday's Eurogroup meeting, with stocks posting a small decline on Tuesday on limited turnover.

ATHEX: Fourth day of stock growth

The Greek bourse benchmark rose for a fourth consecutive session on Thursday, with most stocks posting gains, although not to the extent observed in recent days.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 670.42 points, adding 0.28 percent to Wednesday's 668.55 points.

ATHEX: Stocks bounce back on news about progress in review talks

Reports of a near-agreement between Athens and its creditors in Brussels on the majority of issues found at least a few investors in the Greek stock market willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on Monday. The benchmark posted a moderate rise, albeit on low trading volume.
