DEPA pays price of government nod to US gas

The Public Gas Corporation (DEPA) is apparently paying the price for a Greek decision to facilitate business plans that pave the way for American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to head through Greece to the Balkans and Central Europe - as in the case of the LNG terminal off Alexandroupoli - and for its own handling of the extension of the Turkish Stream pipeline.

Consortium including Tekfen signs 2.4 bln-euro deals for gas storage facility in southern Turkey

A consortium that includes Turkey's Tekfen has signed two contracts worth 2.4 billion euros to construct an underground natural gas storage facility in the southern province of Mersin, the company said in a written statement Sept. 30. 
The group said three of its subsidiaries, Tekfen Construction, Tesisat A.Ş. and HMB, created a consortium along with France's Entrepose Contraction. 

KEVR To Raise Gas Prices by 1.97% As Of October 1

At a closed-door meeting, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (KEVR) took a final decision regarding the statement submitted by Bulgargaz for confirmation of the prices for the fourth quarter of 2016 at which the public supplier will sell natural gas to end customers and to clients included in the gas distribution network.

Bulgarian Energy, Water Regulator Proposes 2% Increase in Natural Gas Price

The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (KEVR) will decide in an open session on Tuesday whether to raise the price of natural gas as of October 1.

The regulator proposed to raise the price of gas by nearly 2% for the last quarter of 2016 due to price changes on world markets.

Dutch say EU's biggest field is running out of gas

The Groningen natural gas field, the largest in the European Union, is running out of reserves, with an estimated 17 years left before stocks will be depleted, The Netherlands announced on Sept. 16.

"Dutch natural gas is nearly finished," said Peter Hein van Mulligen, chief economist at the country's Central Statistics Bureau (CBS).

Balkan Gas Hub: Bulgaria Plans to Keep Ownership of Grid

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev has said the state intends on retaining the ownership of the existing gas infrastructure despite offering a joint venture for the so-called Balkan Gas Hub project.

Some 50% of the new company's shares will be put up for sale. The new entity will be a subsidiary of Bulgartransgaz, the state-owned gas grid operator.
