Anti-fur activists protest fashion week
Animal activists have fashion brands squarely in their sights this Milan Fashion Week, hoping to pressure Italian brands Max Mara and Fendi to give up fur in future collections.
An activist from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) stormed the Fendi runway on Wednesday brandishing a sign saying, "Animals are NOT clothing."

Humans infect animals at mink farms; mass culls avoided
Coronavirus cases have been spreading fast among workers at mink farms in the province of Western Macedonia, the hub of Greece's fur industry. Authorities believe it is the humans infecting the mink and not vice versa. So far, both authorities and owners agree that there should be no mass slaughter of animals as happened in Denmark.

Fur farming becomes illegal in Serbia
Pursuant to the Animal Welfare Act, the ban concerns breeding, keeping, importing and slaughtering of animals for fur and skin production, Tanjug is reporting.
According to the register of the Veterinary Administration, there were 16 fur farms in Serbia before the ban took effect on the first day of this year.

Bulgaria is moving closer to a ban on fur farms, according to the NGO The Civic Initiative for Banning the Extraction of Valuable Skins in Bulgaria, reports Livekindly.
Environmentalists Demand the Closure of a Mink Farm
Environmentalists will go out today to protest against the existence of a mink farm in Bulgaria, BNR said. They will gather at 11.30 am before the Ministry of Agriculture.
The reason for dissatisfaction is a draft of the Ministry of Agriculture for changes in the ordinance on the conditions for breeding animals.
Postponement of Bosnian Fur-Farming Ban Angers Activists
Animal rights activists told BIRN that the decision by Bosnia's House of Peoples to accept an MP's proposal to postpone to 2028 a ban on raising animals for their fur was unjustifiable.
The anti-fur farming law was passed in 2009 and the ban was supposed to come into effect in 2018, but the House of Peoples endorsed the postponement last Thursday, using an urgent procedure to do so.
