The Russians took "most" of a key eastern city

Russian forces are taking control of most of the eastern Ukrainian city of Sievierodonetsk, the regional governor said.

Russian troops are advancing in eastern Ukraine, pounding key cities and aiming "to destroy everything there", President Volodymyr Zelensky has said, as Moscow signaled it was digging in for a long war against its neighbor.

The shelling has intensified in that area, Gaidai added. At the beginning of the war on February 24, the separatists of the self-proclaimed "Lugansk People's Republic" controlled about 30 percent of the region.
