Turkey to become producer of critical technologies: Minister
Turkey will become a producer of critical technologies, instead of a consumer, Turkey's industry and technology minister said on May 19.
Mustafa Varank said Turkey will not be a market for technological products but a production base for the world.
Turkey aims to create electric vehicle market
Turkey aims to have a vehicle market of 1.6 million by 2030, according to the Industry and Technology Ministry's "Mobility Vehicles and Technologies Strategy Roadmap" draft.
More than a third of all vehicles are planned to be electric, and a network of 251,000 charging connectors will be installed across the country in the next nine years, according to the roadmap.

Turkish car receives int'l design award
In a first, a Turkish car has been crowned one of the most prestigious design awards in the world, Turkey's Automobile Initiative Group (TOGG) said in a statement on April 18.
"TOGG became the first Turkish brand to receive such an award and achieved a significant success in mobility with its C-SUV model at the iF Design Awards 2021," it said.

Turkey to own patent rights to upcoming auto
Turkey will own the intellectual and industrial property rights of its first indigenous car, the Turkish industry and technology minister said on Dec. 26.
The car prototype will be unveiled on Dec. 27 in the industrial province of Kocaeli, Mustafa Varank noted.

Worker killed due to explosion at rolling plant in Turkey's Kocaeli
One worker was killed and 15 were injured due to an explosion at a factory in the Marmara province of Kocaeli on Jan. 13, Doğan News Agency has reported.
The explosion occurred in a steel pit at a rolling plant in an industrial site in the province's Dilovası district at 11:00 a.m. Witnesses said the explosion occurred while the pit was under reparation.
