ATHEX: Stocks head lower on very thin trading

The inevitable drop in Greek stock prices following the notable gains registered in the last few sessions came on an exceptionally low trading volume on Thursday. Most indexes closed near their day's low and there is no sign of anything that might convince traders to turn their attention back to the local stock market any time soon.

EIB lends support to windfarms in Greece

The European Investment Bank on Thursday announced the signing of a 24-million-euro financing agreement with Greece's Terna Energy Group to help fund the development, construction and operation of two windfarms on Mount Vermio in northern Greece.

Alpha Bank acted as co-lender, providing an equivalent amount of long-term debt next to a medium-term VAT facility.

ATHEX: Moderate rise on low trading

The week at the Athens stock exchange got off to a quiet start with a few buyers and no sellers, while more than half of the trading volume concerned pre-arranged deals. The benchmark at the day's low wiped out all of Friday's gains.

Fresh concerns over Italy weighed on most European stock markets on Wednesday, leading to losses of over 1 percent for the benchmark at Athinon Avenue, on particularly low turnover. The ongoing saga concerning Folli Follie is not helping the local market at all, and a prosecutor launched an investigation into the case on Wednesday.
