Turkish jets violate Greek airspace over southeastern Aegean islands

Turkish fighter jets violated Greek airspace on Friday morning, flying over three islets in the southeastern Aegean.

According to an announcement from the National Defense General Staff, a pair of Turkish F-16s flew over the islets of Megisti and Ro at an altitude of 26,000 feet at 10.48 and 10.58 a.m., exiting the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) at 11.24 a.m.

Today, the Cabinet is expected to review the commission's report assessing the bids for the new fighter aircraft, reported the Bulgarian National Television. 

According to the report, most of the votes are for the US new F-16s. Thus, they displace the offers of Sweden and Italy for Gripen and Eurofighter aircraft.

Joint Cypriot-Israeli military air exercise takes in FIR Nicosia through Wednesday

A joint Cypriot-Israeli military exercise is taking place over Cyprus this week, with several types of fighter jets flying at low altitudes.

About 80 military jets from Israel, including F35, F15, F16 and surveillance aircraft, are taking part in a large-scale exercise over Cyprus which began on Monday and is scheduled to end on Wednesday.
