The United States will help Greece in its efforts for economic recovery, the US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt said on Tuesday, during the annual celebrations for Independence Day (July 4) in Athens.

US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt has expressed Washington's commitment to supporting the Greek government as the country prepares to emerge from its international bailouts and underlined the importance of foreign investments to fuel the recovering economy.

The United States has a "strategic interest" in Greece's emergence from an eight-year-long economic slump and its technology sector is keen to invest in the country, US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt told a digital forum conference held in Athens on Monday.

Greece's position in the world is "unique" along Europe's southern flank as it occupies a challenging  strategic geography, US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt said on Monday, speaking at Greece's army school, the Hellenic National Defense College.

"We see Greece's position as critical and unique in the world, and particularly along Europe's southern flank," he said.

The Netherlands Embassy in Greece was late Thursday holding its quarterly pitching competition in which startups can win up to 15,000 euros.

Thursday's event, dubbed "The Squeeze," featured eight female pitchers and four expert women judges, in honor of International Women's Day.
