The 2-year-old girl of a Turkish citizen lost has her life as their house has been hit by a rocket amid fights between the army and paramilitaries in Sudan, claiming the lives of at least 200 people.

The government will proceed to evacuate Greek citizens from Sudan unless a safe way out for them can be found, Deputy Foreign Minister for Diaspora Greeks Andreas Katsaniotis has said.

There are approximately 150 Greeks among the 1,000 European citizens in Sudan, where fighting is raging between the armed forces and Sudan's largest paramilitary force, the minister said.

Fighting continues in Sudan between the army and the influential Rapid Support Forces paramilitary formation.

Nearly 100 people were killed and about 1,100 were injured. Both sides claim to hold key areas of the capital, Khartoum. A 3-hour ceasefire was agreed yesterday to allow the casualties to be evacuated.

Foreign Ministry has issued security alerts for Turkish citizens residing in Sudan, asking them to stay indoors amid the escalated tensions following armed clashes in Sudan over the weekend.

Citizens should call the Turkish Embassy in Khartoum and the Consular Call Center of Türkiye in case of emergencies, the ministry said in a social media post on April 16.

As explosions and gunfire thundered outside, Sudanese huddled in their homes for a third day Monday in the capital Khartoum and other cities, while the army and a powerful rival force battled in the streets for control of the country.

Türkiye has expressed its concerns over the escalated tension following armed clashes in Sudan over the weekend.

"We are concerned about the armed clashes taking place today in the Republic of Sudan," read a written statement issued by the Foreign Ministry late on April 15.

Greece's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday issued an advisory for travel to Sudan after fighting broke out between the military and a paramilitary force in the capital, Khartoum.

"In view of the security situation in Sudan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Greek citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the country," the statement said.

Fierce clashes between Sudan's military and the country's powerful paramilitary force erupted Saturday in the capital and elsewhere in the African nation, raising fears of a wider conflict in the chaos-stricken country.

In Khartoum, the sound of heavy firing could be heard in a number of areas, including the city center and the neighborhood of Bahri.

At least 25 migrants from Africa have died and 15 others are missing after a boat carrying them to Europe sank in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tunisia, authorities said.

Türkiye and Egypt have agreed to work more closely to resolve the ongoing conflict in Libya by helping the two rival Libyan groups to set up a joint military unit as part of the unification efforts in the North African country.
