The Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed a first-instance verdict sentencing Hajriz Doglod to six-and-a-half years in prison for crimes against the civilian population in the Vitez area in 1993.

The District Court in Doboj has confirmed an indictment charging Ante Pavic, a former military policeman with the Croatian Defence Council, the Bosnian Croat wartime force, with war crimes against civilians.

Holding sheets with the names of their loved ones and banners with their pictures, every month for the last 25 years, no matter the weather, these women have sent clear messages. 

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, the incident happened yesterday, when, as stated, an unknown person blocked the road with a Hyundai vehicle and tore off the rotating light from the official vehicle of the Republika Srpska and threw it off the road.

The Bosnian state court said on Thursday that a prosecution appeal against the verdict acquitting former fighters Edhem Godinjak, Medaris Saric and Mirko Bunoza, who had been accused of war crimes against civilians and prisoners of war, has been rejected as "unfounded".

Mourners gathered at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre on Monday to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the July 1995 genocide and attend the burial of 50 more victims of the mass killings of more than 7,000 Bosniak men and boys.

It commemorates the issuing of a decree in May 1992 by the wartime Bosnian Serb authorities in Prijedor, which was announced on Radio Prijedor, telling all non-Serbs to mark their houses with white flags or bedsheets and to wear white armbands when going outside - an incident that has become symbolic of the deadly campaign of persecution in the area at the time.

Hundreds of people joined a gathering in Prijedor on Tuesday to mark White Ribbon Day and commemorate the 102 children and more than 3,000 other civilians who were killed in the area during the war.

People tied white ribbons to fences and laid red roses in the square in tribute, as well as holding up banners with photographs of the victims.

"He was a nice and gentle soul. I think he was the best father ever," Djulepa recalled. "He fulfilled all the wishes that he could fulfil for me and my sister."

According to Djulepa, two drunken men came and seized her father on August 2, 1992, saying that they were taking him for questioning.
