Belgrade Appeals Court has reversed the judgment sentencing former Bosnian Serb soldier Milan Dragisic to four years in prison for killing one Bosnian civilian and trying to kill two others in Bosanski Petrovac in western Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992.

The appeals chamber of the Bosnian state court on Thursday upheld a prosecution appeal and increased Suad Smajlovic's sentence from one year and two months in prison to three years.

Belgrade Higher Court on Friday sentenced Joja Plavanjac to 15 years in prison and Zdravko Narancic to seven years for their roles in the killings of 11 civilian detainees at a prison in Bosanska Krupa in Bosnia on August 3, 1992.

Plavanjac was convicted of killing the prisoners and Narancic of helping him.

In an abandoned building near a train station in the north Bosnian town of Banja Luka, 25-year-old Afghan Mohammed is trying to keep himself warm.

It's mid-November, and the temperature is just a few degrees above freezing. Mohammed's jacket does not look like it was made for the cold Bosnian winter.

The appeals chamber of the Bosnian state court in Sarajevo on Friday acquitted former reservist policeman Slavko Milovanovic of committing a crime against humanity in the village of Resagici near Srebrenica in May 1992.

Today, she works in a local betting shop in Tuzla. In hindsight, she regrets that her parents came back to their Bosnian homeland. "I believe that if they'd known in the mid-1990s that they would be worse off today, they wouldn't have done it," she says.

Zoran Pantic, who participated in killing six members of a family in 1993 and then escaped from prison and went to live in Switzerland under a false name, was extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina and has been back behind bars in Bijeljina since Monday evening, local media reported on Tuesday.

A medieval hand-and-a-half-long sword rammed into stone, discovered this summer at the bottom of the river Vrbas in Bosnia, has been hailed by experts as a significant archaeological find.

As the sword was literally plunged into stone, it has been necessary to slowly separate the stone from the sword under water, as the sword had to be recovered together with a part of the rock.

A connecting branch of the TurkStream natural gas pipeline will start next year to extend from Belgrade to the Republika Srpska, one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska Petar Djokic announced on Oct. 7 evening.
