400 People were Evacuated from a Burning Hotel in Pamporovo

More than 400 people were evacuated from a burning hotel in Pamporovo. The fire broke out shortly after midnight.

The fire was caused by grease built-up in the exhaust system of the hotel's restaurant. The flames spread and reached the roof structure, destroying 70 sq. m of it. The building and 50 sq.m of the roof were saved.

The First Section of the New Metro Line Starts Operating in May

Petrich Municipality Investigated by OLAF

OLAF, the European Anti-Fraud Office, is investigating the municipality of Petrich for alleged misuse of € 750,000 allocated to repair an already non-existing building. The project is co-financed by a program for cross-border cooperation between Bulgaria and Greece. The money was received to repair the former border police premises and to make the building a museum.

1 477 Schools Remained Closed Today

Classes in 1,477 schools in 16 Bulgaria's regions have been suspended over flu absences. The classes are expected to resume on 10 February, said the press office of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Classes in 7 districts were partially suspended.

School have been reopened in the regions of Burgas, Vidin, Kyustendil, Sofia City and Haskovo.

A Code Yellow Warning for Snow, Ice and Wind Issued for 9 Bulgarian Regions

A Code Yellow warning for snow, ice and wind has been issued for 9 Bulgarian regions on 6 February, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) said on its website. The warning ice and wind is in place for the regions of Ruse, Targovishte, Razgrad, Shumen, Varna, Dobrich, Burgas, Silistra and Sliven.
