Businessman arrested over debts of more than 34 mln euros
The 45-year-old managing director of a company in Thessaloniki was arrested on Saturday for debts to the state that exceed 34 million euros.
The man is involved in the aluminum trade.
Police did not give any more details.
Parts of Thessaloniki to have water cut off on Wednesday
Parts of central Thessaloniki will be left without water from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, the local water company (EYATH) said on Saturday.
EYATH said that the interruption would occur because it is laying new pipes.
Travel agent arrested for selling bogus holidays
A 37-year-old man has been arrested in Xanthi, northeastern Greece, on suspicion of defrauding customers at his travel agency.
The suspect is alleged to have taken more than 3,500 euros from seven customers for air tickets and holiday bookings since December 2014 but failed to deliver what his victims had paid for, police said.

Large fire breaks out near Corinth
Firefighters on Friday were trying to bring under control a large blaze that broke out shortly after noon in the Prefecture of Corinth in the northern Peloponnese.
Five water-dumping craft and 21 firetrucks were dispatched to quell the blaze, which broke out at 12.30 p.m. in a wooded area between the villages of Stefani and Klenias.

Human rights groups on Thursday slammed a decision by a Greek prosecutor to shelve the investigation into the deaths of 11 immigrants who drowned during a controversial coast guard operation near the eastern Aegean islet of Farmakonisi in January.
Employee of firm tasked with destroying contraband caught stealing it
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in Thessaloniki for stealing contraband cigarettes that had been seized by police and were awaiting incineration.
The man worked at the firm in the Efkarpia area that was due to destroy the cigarettes but was found in possession of 2,565 packets from the illegal consignment.
Monastiraki Square hit by arbitrary interventions
