Second deadly quake hits Japan, 'race against time' to find survivors
Japanese rescuers were digging through the rubble of buildings and mud on April 16 to reach dozens believed trapped after a powerful 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck a southern island, killing at least 26 people and injuring about a thousand.
Japan: 69,000 Evacuated After Series of Deadly Earthquakes
BELGRADE - About 69,000 people have been evacuated in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture located on the island of Kyushu after numerous powerful earthquakes, local media reported Saturday.
All state schools in the prefecture's capital were used as evacuation centers, the national NHK broadcaster said.
