Lost and found century-old film by Michael Curtiz to be screened at TIFF 2015

A rare film shot in Cluj-Napoca by director of famous 'Casablanca' will be screened this evening at the Hungarian Opera House in Cluj-Napoca as part of the TIFF 2015 Transylvania International Film Festival to the live accompaniment by an orchestra conducted by Szabolcs Kulcsar.

US Embassy's Thompson praises cooperation of multinational forces in military exercises in Romania

The collaboration between Romanian and American armed forces in military exercises is an example for both countries, Charge d'affaires ad interim Dean Thompson of the US Embassy in Romania asserted on Tuesday, at the firing range of the Romanian Marines Battalion of Babadag. He was there on the Distinguished Visitors Day of the Platinum Eagle 15 multinational training module.

BEYOND HISTORY/Mures: The fortified church of Saschiz - the first reduit-church built to withstand Tatar raids

The fortified church of Saschiz, whose construction began in 1493 as a Tatar invasion was looming, is considered the first reduit-church in the area, a small-size stronghold built inside an outer fortification, and extensively stocked with weapons and subsistence means to resist a long time siege.

The Mirauti Church, located in the Suceava municipality, which was the first Metropolitan church of Moldavia and the place where the first wife of Voivode Stephen the Great (Stefan cel Mare in Romanian) is buried is a lesser known historical monument that is insufficiently promoted.
