9 Reasons to visit the volcanic Greek island of Nisyros
Nisyros is not your typical Greek island. This small land mass in the Aegean is also an active volcano. It is the youngest along a rift in the Southern Aegean and has experienced at least three major eruptions in the past 45,000 years. One of these, around 16,000 years ago, was particularly destructive, blanketing a wide area with volcanic ash.

New Powerful Earthquakes in Macedonia
The vigorous seismic activity around Ohrid is not stopping. Last night around the area of the city six quakes were registered. The first was also the most powerful. It was detected at 00:05h local time with magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale.

3.7 tremor off the coast of Lesvos
A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the Greek island of Lesvos, Monday morning at 8.54am. The tremor was located south of the island and is considered as part of the aftershock sequence of the recent powerful 6.3 earthquake which cost the life of one person.

4.8 earthquake hits off Lesvos coast
A 4.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded southeast off the coast of the island of Lesvos, according to the National Geodynamic Institute on Thursday morning. The tremor had a depth of 5km and struck 19km off the town of Plomari, which was recently rocked by a powerful earthquake that resulted in the death of a woman.

Work on new media strategy to begin "during summer"
Work to produce a new media strategy will begin during the summer, Assistant Minister of Culture and Information Milos Jankovic has announced.
Jankovic spoke during a debate dubbed, "Who owns the media in Serbia," Tanjug has reported.

The island of Lesvos has drifted 4.4 cm away from the island of Chios as a result of the powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake on June 12, scientists of the Athens National Observatory said.
5.3 earthquake strikes the coast of western Turkey
An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 struck off the coast of western Turkey on Saturday, according to the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The quake struck Izmir's Karaburun district at 10.50 p.m. local time (0850MT), the authority said. The quake followed a previous earthquake of 4.2 magnitude which struck at 10:33 p.m.

7.0mag earthquake rocks Mexico's southern state
A 7.0 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of Chiapas, causing heavy damage to buildings and infrastructure in Mexico's southern state.
The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration report that the earthquake, which occurred at 2.29am local time Wednesday, struck at a depth of 61 miles. The agency said "there is no tsunami threat."
