Greece's Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis discussed about American investments in the country which remain pending in a meeting Friday with US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt.
The ambassador noted that there are "important opportunities" to develop trade relations in investments such as the massive development project in Elliniko and the Elefsina shipyards.

Finance Minister Christos Staikouras is to meet at the ministry on Monday at 3 p.m. with Klaus Regling, the managing director of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).

Greece's new cabinet was sworn in on Tuesday after New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis became elected on Sunday on a pledge to create jobs and lure investment to the economically stricken nation. 

Incoming Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday appointed a cabinet including trusted aides as well as several personalities from outside the political sphere with the key goal of delivering on his promises without delay.

Cyprus is considering the issuance of a new bond to repay part of the Russian loan. Back in 2011 Cyprus sought Russian assistance at a time when it had no access to financial markets, as Demetris Christofias's government was trying to avoid requesting a bailout from the EU and the IMF.

Former New Democracy lawmaker Nikos Georgiadis received a 28-month suspended prison sentence on Tuesday and was fined 20,000 euros after being found guilty by an Athens court of repeatedly paying minors for sex.
The three-member court voted two-to-one in favor of his conviction with no mitigating circumstances.

An Athens court has ordered Greece's Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis to pay financial damages to the family of a journalist for defamation of character.

"We should stop the clock on Brexit, take a pause, postpone the exit," Cyprus Finance Minister Haris Georgiades said Tuesday in an interview with Bloomberg in Brussels.

"'Considering where we are; we fully respect the Brexit decision but exiting without a deal, without an arrangement is unthinkable," Georgiades said.
