Fire in Attica: Houses, businesses and property destroyed in Vrilissia, Penteli, Chalandri – Videos and photos

Homes and businesses in Penteli, Vrilissia, and Chalandri were burned to the ground, where the fire fronts that have been burning northeastern Attica for a second day.

The forest areas that have been burned are huge, and the fire has even reached homes and businesses, irreparably destroying many human properties.

Bomb threats target dozens of Attica schools in suspected hoax

Dozens of schools across Attica received bomb threats via email on Wednesday morning, police say.

The identical emails from an anonymous sender outside Greece alleged that explosives were stored in at least 35 schools in Gerakas, Aigaleo, Ilioupoli, Haidari, and Pallini.

"We will blow you up like our brothers did in Paris," the message said, referencing past terrorist attacks.

Traffic regulations for 41st Peace Marathon in Athens

Athens will enforce traffic regulations this Sunday for the 41st Peace Marathon.

Between 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., there will be phased disruptions to vehicle traffic, along with no-parking and no-stopping zones on designated avenues and streets in Marathon - Nea Makri, Rafina - Pikermi, Pallini - Gerakas - Anthousa, Agia Paraskevi, Chalandri, and Psychiko - Filothei municipalities.

Court pulls the plug on illegal building’s demolition

The Athens Administrative Court of Appeal has again come to the rescue of illegally built buildings after it ruled against the demolition of a carpet shop on Marathonos Avenue, which had been pending since 2016. The decision to demolish the building had been finalized years ago and therefore there is no further appeal or appeal procedure.

Six injured in brawl between Greeks, Albanians in Gerakas

Six people were injured in a brawl that broke out in the early hours of Monday in Gerakas, eastern Attica, between a group of Greeks and a group of Albanians. 

Police are investigating whether the altercation could have been triggered by a shootout between police and an ethnic Greek in southern Albania on Sunday night that resulted in the llatter's death.
