Romanian police in Giurgiu has instituted criminal proceedings against a Bulgarian citizen who has imported several thousand pyrotechnic articles into Romania with the intention of selling them in the city, according to Adjepres.

Bulgarians and Romanians call for building a second bridge between the citie of Russe and Giurgiu, which would be the 3rd link between Bulgaria and Romania over the Dunabe.

Representatives of state and local authorities of the two cities expressed the opinion at a working meeting.

The new bridge is imperative because of intense traffic that has doubled over the years.

A Bulgarian-Romanian working meeting in the Bulgarian town of Russe on the Dunabe will discuss the need to build a 3rd bridge over the Dunabe on the territory of the cross-border region of Russe-Giurgiu, reported BGNES.

MPs, representatives of state and local administration on both sides of the Dunabe, as well as other interested parties have been invited to attend.

Traffic on the bridge will be halted for the carrying out of tests of the load on the road part of the bridge after the extensive renovation works implemented there.

Drivers should expect disruptions to traffic on the Danube bridge connecting the Bulgarian city of Ruse and the Romanian town of Giurgiu in the next months.

The reason for the expected disruptions is the renewal of planned repair works on the Romanian side of the Danube bridge.

Romania and Bulgaria are looking for new builders of the 26 kilometer Giurgiu-Ruse gas pipeline.
