Ancient ruins to open to visitors in Sarayburnu

Street and house ruins from the Early Byzantine and Late Roman Period, unearthed during the excavations at Marmaray's Sirkeci Station in 2009-2011, will be opened to visitors by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) in the second stage of Sarayburnu Park at the Istanbul Historic Peninsula Model Exhibition.

Istanbul Modern welcomes its architect

Istanbul's museum of modern art, Istanbul Modern, moved on May 4 into a new building overlooking the Bosphorus Strait, designed by Renzo Piano, the Italian-born architect of London's Shard skyscraper and the Pompidou Center in Paris.

Established in 2004, the Istanbul Modern in 2018 moved out of a rustic building that once served as a customs warehouse.

People throng Eminönü stores for Ramadan feast shopping

With only a few days left until Eid al-Fitr, people have started thronging the shops in Istanbul's Eminönü district, famous for traditional Turkish delight and Ottomon-inspired sweets, to do holiday shopping.

As preparations for Ramadan are ongoing, in Eminönü, flamboyant candies, chocolates and Turkish delights have taken their place on the counters.
