Seajets agreement with Golden Star Ferries for three fast and one conventional ferry
The Stefanou brothers, who control Golden Star, are in discussions with Marios Iliopoulos of SeaJets, according to sources who are aware of the developments, in order to transfer fast ferries SUPERRUNNER (it operated on the Heraklion-Santorini route), SUPERSPEED and SUPERCAT and the conventional SUPERFERRY II, which plied the route from Piraeus to Cyclades.
Small shipping firms fight for market share
Large passenger shipping companies no longer dominate the Greek market. According to a study by XRTC Business Consultants, the big players, Attica Group (which operates Blue Star, Super Fast and Hellenic Seaways), ANEK and Minoan Lines, accounted for 38 percent of sea passenger traffic in 2018, down from 57 percent in 2014.

Passenger ferry returns to Rafina after engine failure
A passenger ferry with 317 people onboard returned safely to the port of Rafina, east of Athens, on Wednesday after an engine failure.
The Super Runner, which also had cars and trucks on board, was traveling to the island of Santorini via the islands of Tinos, Mykonos and Paros.
Shipowner on hunger strike outside ministry
The owner of a ferry company has been on hunger strike this week, waiting outside Shipping Minister Panayiotis Kouroublis's office for a license to serve a route linking the Attica port of Rafina with Crete.
