Finance Minister Expects Bulgaria to Record Surplus in January

Bulgarian Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov announced on Friday that the revenue collected for January could exceed that for the same month last year by between BGN 400 and 500 M.

Goranov said that in case this happens, it will be the first time to record a budget surplus in the month of January since 2009.

Bulgaria’s PM Appoints Feyzi Bekir Deputy Finance Minister

Feyzi Bekir has been appointed Deputy Finance Minister by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov at the proposal of Minister Vladislav Goranov.

Bekir is currently Deputy District Governor of Kardzhali.

His past work experience includes Director of a Kardzhali-based office of insurance company Euroins AD.

Finance Minister Denies Reports of Ivan Iskrov's Appointment To Black Sea Trade and Development Bank

Bulgaria's Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov denied the reports that Ivan Iskrov, Governor of Bulgaria's Central Bank (BNB), will be appointed representative of Bulgaria at the Thessaloniki-based Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB).

Interim Budget Committee Approves Budget Update

The interim parliamentary committee on budget and finance approved the draft amendments to Bulgaria's Budget Act, reports the Focus information agency.

The budget update was tabled by the Council of Ministers earlier this week. It provides for a deficit of 3.7% of Bulgaria's GDP for 2014 and the taking of another state loan of BGN 4.5 B.

Vladislav Goranov, Finance Minister (GERB)

Vladislav Goranov will serve as Minister of Finance in the coalition cabinet of GERB party and the Reformist Bloc (RB) led by Boyko Borisov.

Goranov, born in 1977, holds  a degree in economics from D. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Svishtov.

From 2001 until 2009 Goranov was head of Social Expenditures department at the Finance Ministry.
