Serbian authorities have declared on Tuesday state of emergency in fifteen municipalities across the country due to floods caused by heavy rainfall.

This was announced by the Serbian interior ministry, Tanjug news agency informs.

Around 710 households have been inundated and 118 people evacuated.

"Municipal polygraph" proposed to tackle lying politicians

The Municipal Assembly in Gornji Milanovac, a town in central Serbia, is considering a proposal "to urgently acquire a lie detector."

The request states that the money should be provided from the municipal budget reserves, and that the purpose of the acquisition would be "to decrease all sorts of lies."

BELGRADE -- Swedish packaging giant Tetra Pak opened on Tuesday a new warehouse for finished products in the Serbian town of Gornji Milanovac.

It is part of the company's investment totaling EUR 11.9 million over the past two years, Tanjug reported.

The new warehouse, covering an area of 4,000 square meters, is planned to employ 38 people.
