Israeli president receives 'warm welcome' in Athens

Israeli president to pay official visit to Athens and Thessaloniki

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin is expected on a state visit to Greece on Sunday.

During the visit, which is due to last until Wednesday, Rivlin will hold meetings with Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, amongst others.

"I am looking forward to the strengthening of relations between our countries," he said last week.

Gov't accused of hiring hundreds at oil firm without transparency

New Democracy alleges that the government has made hundreds of hirings at Hellenic Petroleum (HELPE) that do not meet the criteria for transparency.

In a parliamentary question to Energy Minister Giorgos Stathakis, 21 deputies of the main opposition party are asking for the precise data on all hirings by the state-owned oil company in the last three years.

President, archbishop to meet on Friday

A day after meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to discuss the ongoing negotiations in the name dispute with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Greek Archbishop Ieronymos is to meet with President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Friday.

The meeting will take place at the Presidential Mansion at 6 p.m. No more details were immediately made available.
