Top Turkish, German diplomats discuss tourism over phone

The Turkish and German foreign ministers spoke on the telephone on June 15, according to diplomatic sources.

In the conversation, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Heiko Maas discussed the post-coronavirus normalization process, tourism, the potential removal of travel warnings for Turkey, and Turkish-EU relations when Germany assumes the presidency of the EU Council.

Italian FM to visit Ankara

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio will pay a visit to Turkey on June 17, Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

"During the meetings, bilateral relations between Turkey and Italy and Turkey's EU accession process will be discussed," it said in the statement.

Erdoğan says Turkey provided medical assistance to 125 countries

Turkey provided medical assistance to 125 countries amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on June 14.

Speaking during the 12th International Conference on Islamic Economics and Finance via a video link,  Erdoğan said that Turkey is among the countries which are tacking the pandemic period with the least damage.

Turkey to host Iranian foreign minister

Turkey will host Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif on June 14-15 ahead of a planned Astana summit to be held via videoconference. Zarif will be in Istanbul on June 14-15, Turkey's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"During the visit, all aspects of our bilateral relations will be discussed and views on regional and international issues will be exchanged," the ministry added.

Erdoğan, Putin discuss Libya, Idlib over phone

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on June 10 spoke over the phone with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss the latest situation in Libya and Idlib, northwestern Syria.
According to the Turkish Communications Directorate, the two leaders also discussed regional issues and steps to be taken in the post-pandemic period.

Former chief of staff to testify over FETÖ remarks

An Ankara prosecutor has called former chief of general staff, İlker Başbuğ, to testify over his indirect accusation against some ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) lawmakers that they had initiated a legal amendment that paved the way for special authorized courts to prosecute military personnel in 2009.
