Sakellaropoulou calls for full adherence to instructions on preventing Covid-19

In her first statements as Greece's new President, Katerina Sakellaropoulou called on citizens to follow instructions issued by the country's health authorities to the letter to prevent the further transmission of the new coronavirus which has claimed one victim.

This was in 2006. Looking back, it seems like a happy era of order and predictability, as the world today seems to flirt with the abyss: economic insecurity, the epidemic of coronavirus and the biggest refugee crisis of the century.

Turkish defense minister meets with British counterpart

Turkey's defense minister met with his British counterpart on March 12.

Hulusi Akar received Ben Wallace, who was in Ankara as an official guest, with a military ceremony, according to a statement from Turkey's Defense Ministry.

After the ceremony, Akar and Wallace held a meeting with their delegations.

Greeks are ‘Nazis,’ ‘fascists,’ ‘barbarians’

As far as Recep Tayyip Erdogan is concerned, it's not just German Chancellor Angela Merkel who's a Nazi; so is Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. And while French President Emmanuel Macron is "brain dead" and all Europeans are "fascists," Greeks are "barbarians." Once more, the Turkish president has gone too far, making vulgar accusations and comparisons to Nazi atrocities.

The virus of division

At the risk of sounding tiresome or quirky - you choose - it seems self-evident to me that the last thing we need as a society is to be divided again. It would be easy for that to happen.
