FM Çavuşoğlu says Turkey to continue having ‘key role’ in Europe, Asia

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Dec. 26 said that Turkey will continue its key role in both Europe and Asia as a NATO member.

Speaking at a symposium on the "Asia Anew" initiative, Çavuşoğlu said that Turkey has one of the largest diplomatic networks in the world as it has 32 embassies in Asia, excluding the Middle East.

Turkey has openly conveyed to Greece that it has always stood ready to discuss maritime delimitation issues in the Eastern Mediterranean, Turkey's foreign minister told an interview to a Greek daily.

Turkey has always supported a policy that seeks dialogue in addressing the problems in the region, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu told Greek newspaper To Vima.

Top Turkish, Greek diplomats talk by phone

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a phone conversation with his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Dec. 24.

No details of the phone conversation were revealed.

Recently Turkey's agenda, along with other countries, has been dominated with the deal Ankara struck with Tripoli last month.

Turkish president wishes Merry Christmas to Christians

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wished a Merry Christmas on Dec. 23 to all those celebrating the holiday in Turkey and across the world.

In a Christmas message, Erdoğan highlighted the role of Turkish tradition as well as the "utmost care" in the country to ensure that nobody was discriminated against based on "race, language, religion or denomination".
