Restricted celebrations mark Nevruz day across Turkey
Nevruz, the day marking the beginning of spring, has been celebrated despite restrictions across Turkey due to security concerns.
Police intervened with tear gas against a group of protesters, who - despite a ban by the Istanbul Governor's Office - sought to celebrate Nevruz in the Bak?rköy district on March 20. State-run Anadolu Agency reported that "many" people were detained.

Heavy snowfall halts daily life across Turkey
Heavy snowfall and blizzards have frozen day-to-day life across Turkey, with hundreds of village roads blocked off in eastern parts of the country.
A total of 837 roads leading to villages in the eastern provinces of Erzurum, Erzincan, Ardahan, A?r?, Tunceli and Kars were reported to be blocked by heavy snowfall and blizzards, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Governor raises eyebrows with 'high-level' ceremony to open watering trough
The governor of Edirne has inaugurated a watering trough in the northwestern province, built to provide drinking water to cattle and other livestock, with an official ceremony in Edirne's Azakl? village.
