Graf Ignatiev Street

From today begins the massive renovation of Graf Ignatiev Street. It provides for complete renovation, replacement of the plumbing installation, rails and renovation of Slaveykov and Garibaldi squares.

Major repairs of key locations in the center of Sofia and completion of projects which started last year. These are the main highlights of Sofia municipality's building program this year, reports Mediapool. 

On May 8, Sofia Municipality undertook the long-awaited reconstruction of Graf Ignatiev Street, Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said. The repair will start from "Alabin" street with the replacement of the plumbing pipes. Tram traffic will be stopped. Buses will carry passengers through Gurko Street. Fandakova warned that there would be dismantling activities related to noise.

Sofia Metropolitan Council will consider and vote the pedestrian area in the center of Sofia to expand on Alabin Street from Vitosha Blvd to Graf Ignatiev Str. The report in the SEA was submitted by the municipal councilor Vojislav Todorov from the Serdica coalition group and the vote will be on Thursday, reports Monitor.

More than BGN 41 million will be provided for repairs in Sofia under the Operational Program "Regions in Growth" for a total project worth more than BGN 46 million. Two key areas in the capital will be modernized. One is the so-called Golden Sofia - the space between "Georgi S. Rakovski" Str., "Moskovska" Street, "Vasil Levski" Square and others.

Early this morning, a tramway train failure caused a traffic jam on Graf Ignatiev Street. Around 8 am the tram lines 10, 12 and 18 interrupted their traffic towards the center of Sofia.

The Urban Mobility Center said the problem that caused the accident was removed and the traffic was restored about half an hour later.

Sofia Municipality introduced a change in the organization of the movement in the capital in connection with the installation of the Christmas decoration.

From 00.30 to 4.30 on December 8, it is forbidden to enter road traffic in both directions on "Patriarch Evtimii" Blvd., between the streets "Graf Ignatiev" and "Georgi Sava Rakovski".

A collision of tram # 10 and bus #72 occurred Monday morning at the intersection of the Evlogi Georgiev Boulevard and Graf Ignatiev Street in downtown Sofia.

The incident occurred at 10.50 am, according to reports of the Sofia Municipality, as cited by the BGNES news agency.
