Dogfights between Greek and Turkish F-16s

Greek F-16 fighter jets engaged in dog fights with a pair of Turkish jets over the Aegean Sea, as the Hellenic Air Force General Staff recorded a new wave of violations of Greek airspace over the Aegean Sea by the Turkish Air Force. Over 30 violations were recorded by two Turkish F-16 jets and a pair of CN-235 reconnaissance aircraft.

Greek and Turkish fighter jets engaged in dog fights over the Aegean, as two Turkish F-16 fighter jets and a helicopter violated Greek airspace five times over the south and north eastern Aegean. Two of the Turkish jets were armed. Two infringements of the Athens FIR were also recorded.

Turkish jets conduct 24 Aegean incursions

12 Turkish jets violated Greek national air space 24 times Thursday in the northeastern Aegean, authorities said.

There was also one mock dog fight between Greek and Turkish aircraft.

The Turkish jets - consisting of 10 armed F-16s flying in four formations, one CN-235 plane and a helicopter - also entered the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) nine times.

Turkey's first woman gendarmerie commander among soldiers killed in helicopter crash

Turkey's first woman gendarmerie commander, who was previously suspended from her post because of a conspiracy plotted by followers of the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, was killed in a helicopter crash in the Şenoba area of the southeastern province of Şırnak late on May 31. 

President Pavlopoulos: Turkey should allow Patriarchate to reopen School of Chalki

“The Patriarchate is our cradle and the Turkish leadership must realise that the presence of the Patriarchate in Constantinople is one of Turkey’s most powerful ties with the EU and the West”, Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos said during his meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Patriarchate, Monday.
