Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest

Greece's entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, titled "Zari," has been officially unveiled. The song, an uplifting fusion of traditional, modern, and ethnographic elements performed by Marina Satti, was released on Thursday evening on the 37-year-old artist's YouTube account.

Greek authorities cannot confirm reports that a fishing vessel that sank off Greece on Wednesday on its way from Libya to Italy had 700-750 people on board, the spokesman for Greece's caretaker government, Ilias Siakantaris, told state broadcaster ERT.

The six main parties have agreed to a televised pre-election debate, which will be held on May 10 at 9 p.m., state broadcaster ERT has reported.

The decision was made at a meeting of the interparty elections committee, which was chaired by caretaker Interior Minister Kalliopi Spanou.

Greek singer-songwriter Dionysis Savvopoulos has been hospitalized in the past few days after contracting Covid-19 for the third time.

Public broadcaster ERT has reported that the 78-year-old artist is currently receiving treatment in a private hospital, with his condition being described as serious.

Albania, Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia have all qualified for the final of the 65th Eurovision Song Contest, to be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in Rotterdam. Some 26 countries made it to the final in total.
