Unexpected losses for Greens and Reds
Despite being favorites on paper, both Panathinaikos and Olympiakos lost their Euroleague games this week, the Greens at home to Monaco and the Reds in Belgrade to Partizan.
First on Thursday, Olympiakos went down 78-70 in Serbia, as Partizan snapped the Piraeus team's six-game winning streak.

Olympiacos and Panathinaikos Fly Together to the Super Cup in Rhodes
Olympiacos and Panathinaikos boarded the same flight to Rhodes, the venue for this weekend’s Super Cup (September 28-29). Today, Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos Airport served as a meeting point for three of the four teams vying for the title, as the two “eternal” rivals met at the airport.

Clashes between fans and police outside OAKA in northern Athens
Clashes took place on Friday afternoon outside Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA), between the police and Panathinaikos fans who tried to enter the Olympic indoor hall without tickets to watch the Game 5 of the Greek Basket League finals against Olympiacos.
According to some reports, there have been injuries among the fans.
Police maintains a heavy presence in the area.

basketball legend Vassilis Spanoulis announces retirement at 38
Greek basketball legend Vassilis Spanoulis on Saturday announced his decision to retire from the game at the age of 38, in a message posted on his official Instagram account.
The captain of the Olympiacos Piraeus basketball team said he decided to "hang up his boots" after a meeting with the club owners, the Angelopoulos brothers, where he told them about his decision to retire.
Lavrio does it again, this time at Aris
Lavrio continues to fly high, downing struggling Aris on Saturday, while Panathinaikos' game at PAOK on Sunday was postponed due to four Covid-19 cases in the Greens' roster.
Surprise package Lavrio improved to 10-4 thanks to its 94-89 result at Aris in its first ever win at the Nick Galis Hall of Thessaloniki. Lavrio has already beaten Panathinaikos and AEK this season.

Green hoopsters down the Reds by 11
Panathinaikos triumphed in Piraeus over Olympiakos on Friday, against the odds, with its 88-77 win also covering the Greens' deficit in the two teams' head-to-head in the Euroleague.
The Reds had won by seven in the first game between the two Greek rivals, but in the Friday game at the Peace and Friendship Stadium the Greens were the boss from start to finish.

Promitheas upsets Panathinaikos in Athens
This season's Basket League is definitely the least predictable of the last few decades, with both Panathinaikos and AEK losing this weekend and Lavrio enjoying the second highest record past the halfway point of the regular season.

Greens mending, Reds bending
Greece's Euroleague representatives are heading to opposite directions, as Panathinaikos is clearly on the mend while Olympiakos sees the top eight spots slipping away. In this double week Panathinaikos had one win and one loss, while Olympiakos lost both its games.
