A guard dances the zeibekiko, a messenger receives greetings on his name day, with offers of whisky and cola, an employee with a Panathinaikos flag on his back leans over a coffee pot, and a storage keeper and messenger pedals on a stationary bicycle during working hours. Each image becomes increasingly surreal, capturing the daily lives of public servants.

World of Baroque | Athens | September 28 – October 8

The Athens Baroque Festival will present four musical performances with 16 distinguished musicians from all over Europe to take you on a journey into the genre's world of paradox and excess. Bulgarian Folk Dance: The Longest “Horo” in Sofia on International Dance Day

On International Dance Day (29.04.), over 1,300 dancers from all over Bulgaria gathered in front of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) and sent a message of peace.

"The longest horo in Sofia" is an initiative of the National Folklore Ensemble "BULGARE" and the Association of Choreographers in Bulgaria, whose idea is that every year the event grows and includes more and more people.

‘Why are you so hell-bent on becoming Greek?’

Lale Alatli fell in love with Greece through rebetiko music. She listened to it with her Greek fellow students while they were studying in Italy. She copied CDs and tapes and by studying the lyrics she started to learn Greek. But in Turkey, where she comes from, she could not find anything Greek at that time. "It was like there was an invisible wall between the two countries," she recalls.
