The difficult homecoming of Greece’s ‘lost children’

Many decades ago, mainly between 1948 and 1975, orphanages and families that could not afford to raise them sent some 4,000 Greek children to the United States, the Netherlands and other countries for adoption. The children themselves were never asked if they wanted to leave, or if they agreed to lose their Greek citizenship. They knew nothing about the circumstances of their departure.

Turkey rebukes statement by Greece on non-admission of Greek national

Turkey late on July 13 rejected remarks by the Greek Foreign Ministry on the non-admission of a Greek citizen into Turkey.

The statement came after Greece's Foreign Ministry protested on Aug. 13 against the "wrongful and unjustified detention and deportation order" for a Greek national.

Poll: Majority of Greeks want bigger role for EU Parliament

Seventy-nine pct of Greek citizens want a greater future role for the European Parliament, while 72 percent believe that the EU Recovery Plan will allow the Greek economy to recover faster from the negative effects of the pandemic, according to the latest European Parliament (Eurobarometer) survey on Europe released on Friday.

All Truck Drivers Tested for COVID-19 with Rapid Tests at Promahon Border Crossing

 

 

As of 2.30pm today at the Promahon Border Checkpoint (BCP), the Greek border authorities have made rapid COVID-19 tests on all truck drivers entering Greece.

Each truck will wait about 15 minutes at the point until the result is ready. Additionally, truck drivers are warned that checks for a pre-filled PLF /Passenger Locator Form/ form are also starting.
