The Greek regions that performed well and bad in tourism
The regions of Greece that performed poorly in key tourism indicators such as revenues, overnight stays and visits included, western Macedonia, Central Greece and the Peloponnese. In contrast, the “winners” of the increase in tourists were the South Aegean, Crete, Attica and Central Macedonia, which achieved notably positive results in all three indicators.
Average tourist in Greece spends 67 euros a day, study finds
The average tourist visiting Greece spends 6.5 nights in the country and 67 euros per day, a new study on visitor spending for the first half of 2017 by the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises Institute (INSETE) has found.

Wild weather patterns hitting summer crops hard across Greece
A destructive combination excessive rainfall and extremes of heat and cold has caused tremendous damage to many crops across Greece this summer. "How can the trees handle temperatures going from 40 degrees Celsius down to 14C within just two days? We have air conditioning - they don't," the president of the Imathia Farmers' Cooperative, Christos Giannakakis, said to Kathimerini.

Growers optimistic as grape harvest begins on Santorini
The cutting of the first bunch of Assyrtiko on the southern Aegean island of Santorini on August 4 signaled the start of the 2017 wine grape harvest across Greece. The harvest takes roughly three months, ending in late October in the vineyards of northern Greece.
Rains and storms on weekend, according to EMY bulletin
The Greek Meteorological Services (EMY) issued an extreme weather warning forecasting a sudden deterioration starting on Saturday evening. The bulletin warns of heavy rains, storms, strong winds with some topical hail.
