Fishing might doom the last of the vaquitas: Study
Vaquita porpoises are on the edge of extinction, with just 10 left in their sole habitat within Mexico's Gulf of California.
However, a new study published in the journal Science offers some hope: the world's rarest marine mammals aren't doomed by a lack of genetic diversity, and can recover if illegal "gillnet" fishing ceases immediately.

Magnitude 5.0 earthquake rattles Lesvos
An earthquake with preliminary magnitude 5 struck off the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos on Monday, Greek authorities said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the undersea quake occurred at 7.46 a.m. local time 46 kilometers off the island's southwestern coast and its epicenter was at a depth of 14.9 kilometers.

Serbian Arms Dealer Lobbies for Removal from US Blacklist
Slobodan Tesic, who the US in December put on a blacklist of alleged human rights abusers and people involved in corrupt activities around the world, has hired lobbing company Sonoran Policy Group Inc in a bid to get his name removed from the list.
